MLA triggers caste war in Coastal Andhra

Caste has always played a vital role in the State politics and time and again various castes have determined the rulers. And as the elections are fast approaching and political parties are vying with each other to make their places secure, caste has once again emerged as the key player.

The long-drawn cold war between Kapus and Kammas in the coastal Andhra is set to flare up all over again with the entry of Vijayawada (East) MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna into the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) last week.

Radhakrishna’s entry into PRP came as booster for its president Chiranjeevi. For, it is expected to result in caste polarisation in coastal Andhra, particularly in Krishna and Guntur districts which would definitely benefit the PRP.

Radhakrishna, who belongs to Kapu community, has been virtually waging a war with Kamma leaders in Krishna district, though both the communities have been backing the Congress party. In fact, the Kapu-Kamma rivalry dates back to several decades and it reached a climax with the murder of Radhakrishna’s father Vangaveeti Ranga exactly two decades ago. Ranga was the most revered leader for Kapus and backward communities in the coastal Andhra and one can find his statues in several villages as mark of respect.

Ranga was in the Congress at the time of his murder and that obviously took a political colour since Kammas were the backbone of the Telugu Desam (TD) at that time. However, in the last one decade, political equations changed rapidly as Kammas have also started backing the Congress.

One of the prime accused in the murder case, Devineni Rajasekhar, who was in the TD, later joined the Congress. Prominent Kammas among others who entered the Congress include former Union minister P Upendra, Vijaywada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and Daggubati couple.

Yet, the Kapu-Kamma rivalry continued in the coastal Andhra. While Kapus and their associated backward classes, which constitute nearly 25 per cent of the total population of the State, did not get political power, Kammas continued to dominate the politics in coastal Andhra irrespective of whether it was the TD or the Congress in power. Radha has been trying to counter this dominance of Kammas in the region, particularly Lagadapati and Devineni groups.

He started wooing Dalits and other weaker sections by offering them various facilities, participating in community dinners, spending nights in the residences of Dalits and taking bath in Dalit colonies.

Simultaneously, Radhakrishna never lost an opportunity to oppose the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government granting favours to Kamma leaders. He even threatened to resign from the Congress in protest against allotment of prime land to Deveneni Nehru at Banjara Hills. He also opposed allotment of Wakf lands to Lagadapati’s Lanco Hills in the city.

But with the government pampering Kammas in the region, Radhakrishna has started playing behind-the-screen role for Chiranjeevi’s PRP. Being a close associate of Chiranjeevi’s brother Pavan Kalyan, Radhakrishna has been funding their fan clubs for quite some time. He is said to be the brain behind Pavan Kalyan’s proposal for establishment of a "Common Man’s Protection Force." Now, he officially joined the PRP.

Analysts say Radhakrishna is going to bring about a major shift in Kapu and other BC voters in favour of the PRP. And he has already started his campaign. That would be a major blow not only to the Congress, but also to the TD, which is desperately seeking the support of BCs, apart from Kammas. So, it would be an interesting battle in the coming days.[Deccanpost]

Pavan vs Shabbir: War of words heats up

It is the ongoing war of words between Energy Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Yuvarajyam leader Pavan Kalyan that the public is laughing off.
Pavan Kalyan on Tuesday came down heavily upon the Congress government and its leaders, terming them as robbers who looted the poor and deprived them of their livelihood, apparently inviting the wrath of senior Congress leaders in the State.  The actor-cum-politician even urged the public to “beat the Congress leaders black and blue” until they were undressed.
He even alleged that Ali Shabbir was an ‘ISI agent’.
Reacting sharply to Pavan Kalyan’s “loafer -like statements” , Ali Shabbir said the Congress leaders he was from a respectable family and was quite unfamiliar of the kind of cheap language that the actor used.
Speaking to the media from his office, Ali Shabbir accused Pavan Kalyan of marrying one woman and living with another

My name will do wonders in polls:Chiru

Suspense still continues over the “Rising Sun” symbol for which the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) has appealed. But the party founder Chiranjeevi is so confident that the very name Chiranjeevi will do wonders in the upcoming polls.
Chiranjeevi on Monday appeared before the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Mr Gopala Swamy, here who heard his appeal for the poll symbol -- Rising Sun. Emerging from the meeting, Chiranjeevi expressed confidence that the poll panel will allot the symbol sought by the party.
“I have appealed to the CEC to allot a common symbol for all my PRP nominees and Mr Gopala Swamy has responded positively. I have even argued before the CEC about the non-allotment of a common symbol for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) when it was founded by the late NTR. The Election Commission, however, later accepted the TDP plea and allotted a common symbol,” he stated.
“However, we are not so keen on the allotment of a common and a particular symbol. Even if the EC allots separate individual symbols to the PRP nominees in the upcoming polls, the party will win at least 225 seats in the Assembly,” he observed.
Chiranjeevi is so confident that the name Chiranjeevi will do wonders in the lection. “The single name Chiranjeevi is enough for the PRP candidates to win the poll,” he explained. Chiranjeevi categorically ruled out truck with the Bharateeya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming polls.
“There is no question of PRP going with the BJP,” he said but admitted that talks are in progress with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). “Negotiations from both sides are going on. We have not arrived at a conclusion till now. I hope the alliance with the TRS will materialise,” he added.

Chiru asks kids to grasp social issues

HYDERABAD: Stating that children of the day were not aware of social conditions, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president Chiranjeevi today urged them to gain an understanding on various issues.

He was speaking at a function organised at the PRP office on the occasion of the birth anniversary celebration of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which is also observed as Children’s Day in the country.
About a hundred children from different schools participated in the event.
After interacting with the kids for sometime, the Praja Rajyam Party chief said children should be made to act with responsibility.
“Children, now, are burdened with their academic studies and their attention is not drawn towards several social issues. If the PRP comes to power it will ensure that they are made conscious about several things.”

Only Chiranjeevi can ensure social justice:Shiva Shanker

HYDERABAD: Former union minister P Shiv Shanker on Saturday expressed concern over the "total degeneration" of values in the Congress party and lashed out at AICC chief Sonia Gandhi for "lacking" political experience.

"The Congress is trying to garner votes in the name of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. But the Congress is no longer the party of values," Shiv Shanker observed soon after he joined the Praja Rajyam Party of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi here on Saturday.

Sonia Gandhi had "buried" the lofty ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru long ago, he alleged.
He said there was nothing wrong in the allegations made by another former Congress leader Margaret Alva over the "sale of party tickets" in Karnataka.

"It happened even in Andhra Pradesh in 2004. There were a series of reports on the sale of Congress tickets in the Assembly elections," he said.

Ridiculing the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party over chanting the "social justice mantra", the former union minister said they had failed to achieve anything in this regard all these years.

"Only Chiranjeevi can ensure social justice. I have full confidence in his leadership and hence joined the Praja Rajyam Party," Shiv Shanker said.

Tammineni takes charge of key districts

Praja Rajyam has finally appointed party representatives.  Tammineni Sitaram was appointed as the in-charge of all important Godavari districts.
KSR Murthy, Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, Tammineni Sitaram, Shobha Nagi Reddy, Naragoni were appointed as party official representatives.
Another key person in the party Harirama Jogaiah was appointed as public relations committee chairman.
It may be noted that all key positions were occupied by the migratory leaders.

Chiru’s challenge

Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi severely criticized the government.  He challenged to prove that there is no corruption in the projects taken up by the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government.
If the government has the will, then why there is drought like situation in Warangal, he questioned.
Chiru dismissed the comment of Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who said that Chiru does not know the difference between a river and sea.  Chiru, too, lost no time in hitting back with a counter: “I may not know the difference between river and sea, but I know what corruption is and what is not.”

As part of his political tour, he was addressing a public meet when eggs were hurled at him by the members of a noted political party. This did not rattle Chiru who stood up and thanked those who have garlanded him and added a double thanks to those who have hurled those eggs at him. Chiranjeevi thats politics.

Crowd cheers Chiru for his support to Telangana

After announcing his party’s support for the separate State demand, Prajarajyam Party president Chiranjeevi received a tremendous response yesterday. Chiranjeevi, who began this third day of Praja Ankita Yatra from the coal town of Godavarikhani, found his convy thronged by hundreds of people and their sudden repeated cheers over his support to Telangana. But TRS and BJP activists tried to play spoilsport by surfacing at the yatra and demanding that he make a more clear statement on the Telangana issue.

Responding to their demand, the actor-turned-politician said he was clear and transparent in his views and his party’s stand on the issue. “I have made it very clear that the Prajarajyam Party would go by the aspirations of the people and would accept the formation of the separate state. It would not halt the process in no way,” he told the protesters. Chiranjeevi then thanked the TRS and BJP activists for joining him with their party flags during his ankita yatra. “Only those people who are not clear on their demand for the separate State will find fault with our stand on the separate state issue,” he said.

Later, Chiranjeevi paid tributes to the coal workers who died in coal mines accidents and demanded the government to improve the working conditions of the coal workers. “There is also disparity in their work and wages they get. My party, if voted to power, would suitably increase their wages and would give them more honour in their work,” Chiranjeevi added. Chiranjeevi said that the root cause of many problems was corruption and promised to fight against the corruption in all spheres. “Only low level employees who take Rs 5,000 or less bribes are being caught and punished, while those taking hundreds of crores are going scot-free,” he said.

Talasani to join Praja Rajyam?

The speculation in TDP is rife that Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLA Secunderabad will join Praja Rajyam.
Talasani skipped all important meetings of the party in the recent times.  There are several reasons. One is that he is not considered for a place in the Polit Bureau.  The other one is his rival Krishna Yadav’s re-entry into the party.

TRS leans towards PR?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi moving towards a political alliance with the Praja Rajyam after the encouraging response to the later in the Telangana region!
As per the TRS leaders, K Chandrasekhar Rao is interested to align with the Praja Rajyam.
TRS men are keenly observing the public response to Chiranjeevi’s road shows.  KCR is also hinting to work with the Congress if the party takes pro-Telangana decision.  Political observers feel that it is only a ploy to get better deal in the alliance.  PCC president D Srinivas said that the doors of the Congress are open for KCR.
Now, TRS can select its alliance partner among the possible three parties viz. the Congress, the TDP and the PR.

Megastar says yes, superstar says no!!!

They have often been referred to as the reigning kings of the Telugu and Tamil film industries and one wave of their hand will have millions following them. They are Megastar Chiranjeevi and Superstar Rajinikanth. With the current political scenario taking a completely different turn, analysts say that this is due to the arrival of Chiru into politics. However, while Chiru has already gone ahead with his party and his political meets, back there in Chennai, pressure had been mounting on Rajini to get into politics. After a lot of debates and discussions, Rajini made it very clear that politics is not his cup of tea.

Apparently, it was the move of Megastar that had inspired Rajini fans to push the superstar but then that seems to have failed to work out.

Balakrishna to reach Guntur on Nov. 4

Nandamuri hero, Balakrishna, who is scheduled to make his political debut with the Yuvagarjana to be held in Guntur on November 5, is likely to reach the town one day in advance and hold talks with the party senior leaders.

Even as the Telugu Desam president, N Chandrababu Naidu, is closely monitoring the arrangements for the mega event, Balakrishna himself is personally gathering information on the arrangements and instructing the leaders accordingly.

The TD had formed over 17 special committees to monitor venue, dais, media, electricity, transport, parking, finance and other issues. Each of the committee was assigned special tasks for the event. Party senior leader, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who heads the organizing committee, is camping in Guntur monitoring the arrangements with the respective committees.

Mr. Chiranjeevi was accompanied by wife Surekha and brother-in-law and film producer Allu Aravind.

CPI Secretary K. Narayana also called on Mr. Rao.

Telangana made me megastar: Chiranjeevi

Megastar Chiranjeevi admitted today (Thursday, Oct 30) that Telangana people made him megastar from a mere movie star. “All my films had great patronage in all the regions of our state but Telangana (Nizam) has been my bastion. I had great records in the region and I know the heart beat of Telangana people who are striving for self respect,” he said in his maiden political road show in the region.
It should be noted Chiranjeevi was the first hero in Tollywood to take the rights of Nizam area as part of remuneration. After him, other stars like Nagarjuna followed the suit.

'They sent a blue film to malign me' - says Roja

Telugu Mahila president Roja's journey from being a glamour doll on celluloid to a fiery politician on the country roads was not a cakewalk. After her campaign at many poverty-stricken villages, a weather-beaten actress spoke to Deccan Post.
Excerpts:

You have been actively campaigning in rural areas. Do you think the emergence of new outfits and parties has affected Telugu Desam's poll prospects?

See, what you often see in the media is not reality. Being an active politician, I go to the masses. I know their pulse while trying to study their issues. Neither the TDP nor its president Chandrababu Naidu is going to be affected with the new development. I get support from more and more people each time I visit their villages across the State. More and more film actors take to politics, the latest being Jayasudha. Film actors usually enter into politics for reasons best known to them and you. I don't want to comment on such entries because it doesn't worth it. They have their own vested interests.

How can we expect the film stars who are accustomed to luxuries go out in the blazing son and serve the public? Even Chiranjeevi seems to be very tired with his road show. It seems he will soon stop his political drama and go back home. ? You also were an actress. I didn't join politics for any position or personal benefit. In fact, my tryst with politics began when my father's friend was contesting an election. I wanted to campaign for him in the elections. But once I was out there with the public, I realised the problems faced by common people. Then I decided to work actively. Instead of taking up a key position in the party, I started learning how an actual politician should work for the society. And I still go out to the public and take up issues instead of sitting idle within the comfort of the office. ? You are undoubtedly the most active woman politician in the State today, taking up issues and fighting for the welfare of people. Haven't you faced any problem in male-dominated politics? Why not? Men generally don't like women in politics. They feel that it's their dominion. Apparently, many eyebrows rose when I plunged into active politics. They say you have more enemies within your party than outside. Well, not exactly. I don't have enemies as such. Perhaps, yes, there are jealous people around. They were there when I was in films too. Once a blue film cassette of a woman slightly resembling me was sent to the TDP office and there were concentrated efforts to malign my name. Our leader Chandrababu Naidu understood the reality. If it was an action meant to smear me in public the cassette might have gone to the media and the public. I know about myself. I don't care what gossipmongers and jealous lots say. I know my people. And people know me.
Do you think Chiranjeevi's entry will change the political equations in the State? Sure, it will. But it doesn't mean that Chiranjeevi will bag several seats and will come to power. He may be able to split votes causing the State to have a hung Assembly. He is our good family friend. What he is doing is not exactly meant to serve the people as he claims. Splitting the votes will result in political chaos and in the process, the actual issues faced by people will be forgotten. Did you get any invitation from to join Praja Rajyam? Not really. He knows that I'm a committed politician. So, no one invited me. Chandrababu Naidu is a seasoned politician and my leader. Everyone knows that. ? Will you contest the next Assembly elections? Yes, I will. There is utmost happiness and satisfaction when you are voted by the people to represent them in the House. More over, you can bring in their issues to the government once you are an elected representative. What do you think will be TDP's state after the elections? Our party, under the undisputed leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, will sure be voted to power. And he will be our next Chief Minister. No doubts.  Courtesy: deccanpost

No statements on T issue: Chiru

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi sought the party functionaries at all levels not to make any comment or statement on the burning issue of Telangana. Talking to the media, Chiranjeevi said that Telangana issue was a delicate aspect and required more insights before making any valid statement on it. As such, he desired that the party leaders should wait till the PRP would take a final decision on it soon.

Chiru’s T tour from 24 Oct

Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi’s praja ankita yatra in Telanaga will begin on 24th of this month.
This tour is crucial for the party.  It will show the strength of PR in Telangana region.  Every one is convinced that PR is strong in North Andhra.  Several important leaders from TDP joined in North Andhra.  So far, no politician worth his salt joined PR from Telangana.
Praja Rajyam is also hoping for the success o

Advani inquires Chiru's tour

Praja Rajyam Chiranjeevi’s first road show success has reached even New Delhi.  Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister in waiting LK Advani inquired about the mega tour.  His interest in PR’s activity shows that BJP is hoping for an alliance with Chiru, may be post-poll alliance.
The State BJP leaders are in New Delhi to have a meeting with the core committee. There is no possibility of pre poll alliance between the PR and the BJP, but the post poll alliance cannot be ruled

Will align with PR provided...

We will align with Praja Rajyam if their policies similar to ours said CPM State general secretary Raghavulu.  He said that the matter of alliances in the State is not yet finalized.  A decision will be taken after discussing with the CPI he said.
It may be noted that Chiranjeevi rather bluntly replied to the CPM for questioning the PR policies on various issues mainly economic policies.

Mega change in Chiru

With just few days in the road shows, Chiranjeevi has become a tough nut to crack to the rivals.  There is clear difference between Chiru speech at Arasavelli and in Vizag.
Chiru said that he does know about politics and knows only public service.  He asked the youth to motivate their parents to vote for Praja Rajyam. He spoke about local issues in several places.
Chiru told people about the Kautilya Neeti – the secret.  He said if the king is corrupt, people will become corrupt.
Chiru is also speaking emotionally in the tour.  People are cheering Chiru’s speech.

When Pawan reached Ibrahim Patnam, it was high time for the police to control the crowd, he could hoist the party flag with great difficulty and had to leave the place without any political speech.

Chiru reacted sharply on Income Tax allegations

Chiru who is on Road show in Vizag strongly reacted to the allegations of Congress Party that he was not paid income tax properly. Chiru said ' My accounts and income are open books, I paid tax promptly and those who are making allegations should know that I have received Samman award from the Government for paying tax promptly. I am not interested in the money that is account less'.

Chiru - Abruptly canceled his tour

Megastar - P R P Chief - Chiranjeevi had to cancel his political tour abruptly as his medical experts advised him not to continue his tour as his vocal cord is going bad and he has to stop speeches, so by tomorrow evening he would be closing his political tour as of now. Chiru  before canceling he said that for sure he is going to come back to the same place once again and stated that he is overwhelmed with the response which he got from people.

24x7 free power: Chiru

Praja Rajyam chief Chiru promised 24 hour free power to the farmers, if voted to power.  Probably this is the first major promise made by Praja Rajyam president.
There is overwhelming response to the first road show of PR in the North Andhra.  Srikakulam streets are flooded with Chiru fans, people and party activists.
Chiru said that he is happy to begin his Praja Ankita Yatra in Srikakulam district which is known for movements.  Chiru spoke emotionally on several occasions.

1 dies, 10 injured in Chiru road show

One person named Madina who was injured on Friday succumbed to injuries on Friday.  The Praja Rajyam has granted an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the family of deceased.
On Saturday, 10 people injured in wall collapse incident and the injured are rushed to the hospital.

Chiru defines PR

Did you know the meaning of Praja Rajyam?  If not, do not worry.  Chiru founder of PR defined it for you.
Chiru in his road show said that the State ruled by the people is called ‘Praja Rajyam’.
He said that political corruption is the mother of all corruptions.  Chiru made his intention clear that he wants to establish where there won’t be any place for bribery.
More than Chiru’s road show, Aravind’s meeting of CPM leaders in Delhi has attracted the attention of many.

Chiru turns philosophical

Praja Rajyam president’s Chiranjeevi’s first road show received tremendous response on Monday.
Chiru is overwhelmed by the massive crowds which thronged everywhere.  Chiru said that only time will tell whether all these people vote in his favour or not.
Senior Congress leader M Satyanaraya said that we cannot under estimate the effect of Chiranjeevi. MSR said that in the next elections the competition will be between the Congress and Praja Rajyam.
There is some good news to Chandrababu Naidu that there will not be any alliance between the Praja Rajyam and CPM.

Chiru says he is not educated in cheating politics

Megastar Chiranjeevi stated that their party prime focus is growth of villages, this he stated during is visit in Vijayanagaram Praja Ankitha Yatra roadshow. Chiru stated that if politics really means looting public money then its a fact that he does not know abcd in politics and further stated that he does not want to enter into such politics.

Chiru fans and leaders controversy

Megastar Chiranjeevi is facing troubles in his own circle as his fans are demanding their own share in party and positions, they are not able to digest facts that importance is given to other migrating leaders into P R P.As a result, they are showing their ire on even on the leaders deputed by Chiru. This unfortunate situation has come to the fore at Warangal on Monday. Representatives of Chiranjeevi fans associations roughed up Siddharth, a close associate of Pawan Kalyan, who went there as an observer to oversee the formation of committees and take up membership drive. They ransacked the furniture there and raised slogans against indiscrimination meted out to Chiru's fans. It took a long time for the organizers to bring the order at the meeting. Now, one can imagine the situation all over the State in the coming days. After all fans are fans; they cannot be organized political activists!

Chiru has not paid Income Tax

Megastar Chiranjeevi earned Rs 8 crores as his remuneration and distribution rights for flick 'Tagore', as such he is fighting against corruption, according to former APSRTC chairman Gone Prakash Rao, Chiranjeevi has not paid any income tax for the amount he took. Chiru has no moral right to criticize Congress.Looks like Gone Prakash Rao has deserted his bete noire Madhu Yashki and KCR for the time being; and is now targeting Chiranjeevi. Megastar should understand that he is in politics now.

Will Superstar win over Megastar

Making quick moves to counter any possible impact of Chiranjeevi’s ‘Praja Ankita Yatra’, the Congress party appears to be gearing up to utilise the image of super star Krishna and his son Mahesh Babu. Mahesh Babu has considerable fan following among the youth. It is being said that the father-son duo will embark on a tour of the state to campaign about the welfare measures taken up by the government like Rs 2-a-kg rice, old age pensions, Arogyasri and NREGS.

Lending credence to this, Krishna, along with his wife Vijaya Nirmala, launched the membership drive of the ‘Krishna-Mahesh Sena’ on Sunday. He gave a clarion call to his fans to work for the victory of chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Krishna’s political call to the fans at a time when Chiranjeevi is attracting huge crowds is seen as the Congress move to neutralise the latter’s movie glamour. Soon TDP is also going to join the race with Balakrishna, Jr NTR, Kalyanram and Tarakratna.

Addressing a combined gathering of Krishna and Mahesh fans, Krishna, for the first time, made a direct political appeal that it was his duty to support a chief minister who was taking up unprecedented measures for the welfare of the people. He urged the fans to support him in this “gigantic endeavour” of campaigning for the YSR government.

Justifying his support to YSR, Krishna said he had entered politics when YSR was the PCC president in 1984.   “Motto of my fans is ‘people’s welfare’ and motto of YSR is ‘people’s well being,’ and it is this aspect which has brought me close to Congress now,” Krishna told his fans and urged them to play an active role in creating awareness among the people about the welfare schemes launched by the government.

C is for Chiranjeevi. C is for change

Chiranjeevi has hit the roads with a clarion call for change. After offering prayers at the famous Sun shrine here in this village on Thursday, made an impassioned plea for bringing about a change in the society on the eve of his much-awaited Praja Ankita Yatra. ‘‘C is for Chiranjeevi. C is for change,’’ he quipped as the crowd that lined up to see him cheered him lustily. The actor dwelt mostly on the day-today problems that people faced and how successive governments had belied their hopes after garnering their votes.

‘‘The government is supposed to be a trustee of public property. They cannot plunder it,’’ he stressed. He arrived in Srikakulam by a special helicopter at about 4 p.m. and drove straight to the temple. People, mostly youths, came out to greet him and rent the air with slogans in his support. After praying at the temple, Chiranjeevi came out to address the people, who were everywhere –– on the road, trees and buildings. Though he hit out at the rulers, he refrained from naming anyone in particular. He did not raise any specific issues either. The thrust of his speech was on social justice, minimum facilities needed for a decent living and so on.

Elaborating on what change meant, the actor said even creation of minimum facilities would be a change for the better. ‘‘For instance, a bus to your village, proper treatment at a police station when one goes to lodge a complaint and availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices. What you all want are these small changes, but there is none to bother about them,’’ he said. ‘‘After ascending to power, politicians are turning into self-serving individuals,’’ he said adding that they were not only growing at the expense of the poor but are also helping their kith and kin to grow.

Mega Power Star monthly magazine launched

It is not the title of Ram Charan Tej but it is the title of a film magazine which showcases the film career of Padmabhushan Dr Megastar Chiranjeevi and along with the analysis of his political career. Mega Power Star magazine is a monthly magazine which was officially launched yesterday by Praja Rajyam Party leader Chiranjeevi at his party office.

On the occassion of magazine launch, Megastar Chiranjeevi congratulated Smt Vasanthi Chandu and her staff for starting such a magazine.

Devi Sri scores music for Praja Rajyam

Devi Sri Prasad who had several hits to his credit has scored music for Chiru’s Praja Rajyam album.  Chiru’s son Ramcharan Tej rendered his voice for one song. The music will be out on Vijayadasami day.  There is ample talent in Chiru’s family. Therefore, mega star need not worry about campaigning even there is early elections in the State.  His brother Pawan Kalyan with city tour showed his power among the youth.  Above all, the hungry media will always provide ample publicity to mega star.

Vijayashanti, Roja flop show

Vijayashanti was one of the most successful heroines in Telugu film industry.  Though, Roja is not successful like Vijayashanti has reasonably fared in Telugu and Tamil films.
Both these beauties failed in politics.
Talli Telanga Party floated by Vijayashanti could not make any impact in Telangana.  There was news of merging TDP with TRS.  Recently, she urged all pro Telangana parties to join hands with BJP fuelling speculation that she will go back to BJP.
Roja lost in 2004 Assembly elections.  She is making Chiru target and criticizing mega star as frequently as possible.  She has created impression that criticizing Chiru is the pre-condition to get party ticket for forthcoming general elections.

Power Star Vs Balaiah

Pawan Kalyan said that he is happier as political activist than as a hero.  On Tuesday, he participated in Praja Rajyam flag hoisting ceremony in several places in the city.  On this occasion, he said that youth are showing lot of interest after the Praja Rajyam arrival.
Is Pawan Kalyan specially targeting youth to take on Balakrishna’s yuva garjana which is to be held on 24th of this month?  But one thing is clear that Pawan will take active part in campaigning also.

YSR's end is Chiru's beginning!

Praja Rajyam chief Chiru is all set to commence his tour on Vijayadasami day considered to be the most auspicious day.
The tour aptly titled ‘praja ankita yatra’ will begin from Srikakulam district which is situated to the North of the State.  Praja Rajyam is banking on the backwardness of the people in the North Andhra.
It may be noted that about five years ago the present chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy completed his highly successful ‘pada yatra’ in the same Srikakulam district.
Several leaders, mainly from TDP are expected to join Chiru party during the road show.  Chiru fans in the region are waiting eagerly for mega star to have a closer look.  What happened in Siricilla, the people of the region suffering for various reasons are expecting that the star will throw light in their lives.Praja Rajyam chief Chiru is all set to commence his tour on Vijayadasami day considered to be the most auspicious day

Chiru Yatra may get C P M support

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leadership in the state will decide whether to join hands with the Telugu Desam or the Praja Rajyam after gauging the public reaction to Chiranjeevi’s yatra. Though the CPI(M) has agreed to form an electoral pact with the Telangana Rastra Samiti, it has adopted a wait and watch policy as far as the TD and the Praja Rajyam are concerned. This was evident from the deliberations of the CPI(M) state committee which met on Monday in Hyderabad. The committee reportedly resolved to maintain strategic silence on the pre-poll alliance with the TD for the time being. A leader who participated in the meeting said that the CPI(M) would be keenly monitoring Chiranjeevi’s yatra to find out how much clout he wielded among the public in the state. "We are also waiting for Chiranjeevi’s party to reveal its stand on key issues such as the Indo-US nuclear deal, the economic reforms, World Bank policies and the attitude towards the BJP," said the leader.

"We were informed by the Praja Rajyam leaders that all this would be spelt out during Chiranjeevi’s yatra. So we decide to wait." Meanwhile, the CPI(M) politburo member, Mr Sitaram Yechury, said that the party had not taken any decision on whether to align with the TD or with the Praja Rajyam. "We feel that alliances among the Opposition parties in the state should be forged on the basis of the alliances at national level," he added. When asked the new friendship between the TRS and the CPI(M), Mr Yechury said, "We are moving with the aim to dislodge the Congress government as well as to keep the communal BJP away from power. For this, we are bringing anti-Congress and anti-BJP forces to one platform." The CPI(M) leader said that the party’s central committee would take a clear stance on pre-poll alliances during its meetings to be held on October 13 and 14 in Kolkata. -DC

P R P - Chief to have youth meeting on 8th October

PR activists protest against Roja

Praja Rajyam activists protested against Roja for her remarks against Pawan Kalyan.  They have distributed sweets and chocolates to the children.  The protesters garlanded Roja’s photo and took out a procession in Tirupati, beating with neem leaves.
Chiru reacted for criticism in Gandhian way saying that more criticism means more encouragement.  But ‘Tammudu’ has not taken kindly the criticism and warned with severe consequences.

Chiru rehearsals

As Praja Rajyam chief Chiru will commence his tour on 9th of this month, the party is busy with ground work.  Chiru is spending time at home with select professors and script writers.
How to respond to rivals comments, what are the replies what kind of criticism to face etc are the focus of the exercise.
Chiru is learning more about the local issues of Vijayanagaram, Vizag and Srikakulam districts.
On Dasara, Chiru will perform puja at the Sun temple in Arasavelli in Srikakulam.  It may be noted that PR symbol is ‘Sun’.

Will Chiru manage early polls?

The State elections date is just six months away; there is a talk of early polls in the State.  Who will gain if the polls are held in January / February?  Can Chiru cover the State if the polls are held at an earlier date?  Is the Congress party fully prepared?  The December elections in the four States will determine the strategies of UPA for parliament elections.

There is a talk of allotting tickets by the Congress party.  In the review meeting, there was a topic of distribution of seats which is giving weightage to the early poll talk.

Though Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy is talking of polls as per schedule, there are enough indications for early polls.  The Congress leaders do not want to give Praja Rajyam party enough time for campaigning.   The Congress party is which in all probability will go to polls alone has to face the combined TRS-TDP that will give tough fight in Telangana.  In Andhra region, PR may lead leaving only Rayalaseema to the Congress party.

Even the elections are held as per schedule, the parties cannot relax.  Every day there is one new development and nobody knows what happens to alliances.

Will YSR hesitate to go to early polls due to TDP loss in 2004?  Even NDA blamed Naidu for early polls, of course after the results are out.

PR spokesman Parakala Prabhakar said that their party is ready for polls at any time.  Chiru will announce the party policy decisions during his tour which commence on 9th of this month he added

Who will be Prajarajyam’s Mahila president?

When he was a movie star, heroines lined up to act with Chiranjeevi. In his new role as a politician, however, he is finding it difficult to rope in a heroine to campaign for his party. Unlike other political parties, where heroines of yesteryears are heading women’s wings, Chiranjeevi’s party is facing a shortage of a female face. Even though actor Suhasini’s name did the rounds for some time, there was no concrete result.

Even though, the Congress and the Telugu Desam are not led by film personalities, TD women’s wing, Telugu Mahila’s president, Roja, was a known film actor in Telugu and Tamil film industry.  She unsuccessfully contested in the 2004 Assembly elections.  The Congress state leadership succeeded in adding glamour to the party by roping in yesteryear heroines Jeevitha and Jayasudha.

The PR leaders are now seeking a heroine to head the party’s women wing. Suhasini, Sumalata, Madhavi, Vijayashanti, Radha, Radhika, Roja and Nagma were the top heroines who acted with Chiranjeevi. Now Vijayashanti is espousing the Telangana cause and Radhika is with the DMK. Sumalata married Ambarish, a former Union minister from Karnataka, whereas Madhavi settled in
United States. Radha’s whereabouts are not known.  This has made it difficult for the new politician to find a suitable heroine who to add glamour to the Praja Rajyam.

Chiru tour with tight security

Prajarajyam Party Chief - Megastar Chiranjeevi tour would start in few days from now for which Police Department is making a strong protection system during his state wide tour. Districts which he would be touring Superintendent of Police would be responsible for monitoring security of Chiranjeevi. Place where Chiru would make a speech to public would be throughly checked by Police department a couple of days before the visit and that place would be under their control. There is expectation that huge number of people would turnup for this meetings.

Pavan Kalyan became member of P R P

Prajarajyam Political Party started registering members into the party, on this eve a physically handicapped person Balakrishna Naidu was first member to get registered as member in P R P followed by Megastar Chiranjeevi as second member as well Pavan Kalyan has also registered himself as Member of P R P. Balakrishna has given Rs.5 towards becoming member of party. Today people belonging to other districts also became members of P R P.

P R P -Chief gives importance to Handicapped and Woman

Megastar -  Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi has given honor to a woman Shobha Nagi Reddy who recently came from Telugu Desam Party and joined P R P. Chiranjeevi, who launched the membership drive on Thursday, gave the first membership to a disabled person – Balakrishnama Naidu – and took the second membership for himself. Next in the line was Shoba Nagi Reddy, who accepted the membership from the megastar.

Pavan Kalyan sharply reacts to C B N comments

Power Star Pavan Kalyan sharply reacted to the comments made by Chandrababu Naidu on Chiranjeevi Blood Bank stated that we will not just keep quite, we will surely counter attacks made on Megastar Chiranjeevi and our social services. We are no more going to entertain meaningless and eccentric comments anymre. This reaction by Pavan Kalyan is with reference to Chandrababu Naidu's saying that  NTR trust took up more powerful social service than CCT and Chiru is doing it for publicity. Pavan Kalyan requested all his fans to aggrivate social activities and care their foot for all this comments.

Family members dominating in every party

When he was a movie star, heroines lined up to act with Chiranjeevi. In his new role as a politician, however, he is finding it difficult to rope in a heroine to campaign for his party. Unlike other political parties, where heroines of yesteryears are heading women’s wings, Chiranjeevi’s party is facing a shortage of a female face. Even though actor Suhasini’s name did the rounds for some time, there was no concrete result. After she denied that she was joining the PR, the party’s camp managers have now launched a hunt for a veteran heroine who can campaign for the party. Even though, the Congress and the Telugu Desam are not led by film personalities, the women’s department of both the parties have yesteryear’s film heroines on their side. The TD women’s wing, Telugu Mahila’s president, Roja, was a known film actor in Telugu and Tamil film industry.  She unsuccessfully contested in the 2004 Assembly elections.
The Congress state leadership succeeded in adding glamour to the party by roping in yesteryear heroines Jeevitha and Jayasudha. Telugu cine hero,  ajsekhar and his actor wife Jeevitha, had joined the Congress a few months ago. Another top heroine, Jayasudha, has also pledged her support for the Congress. Sumalata married Ambarish, a former Union minister from Karnataka, whereas Madhavi settled in United States. Radha’s whereabouts are not known.  Almost all the heroines who acted with the actor are now busy in their new endeavours. This has made it difficult for the new politician to find a suitable heroine who to add glamour to the Praja Rajyam

Family members dominating in every party

Politics in the state now revolves around four influential families, so to say. The most powerful family in the political arena, of course, is that of the Chie f Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajaekhar Reddy.  His brother and MP, Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, is one of the most sought after leaders in Kadapa politics and wields much influence. And the Chief Minister’s son, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is a rising political star, a businessman and a media baron. In fact, several Jagan Yuva Senas have cropped up recently demanding that he take a more active role in politics.

The Telugu Desam has always been dominated by the family of Mr N.T. Rama Rao. It was NTR who encouraged sons-in-laws, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao to become active in politics.  But family politics turned sour with Mr Naidu upstaging NTR and becoming Chief Minister of State for nine long years. Now out of power and insecure about the future, Mr Naidu has sought the support of the NTR family again, including actor Balakrishna, Harikrishna, Jr NTR and others. “He feels that they will help TD regain power,” said an aide.

Actor-turned politician Chiranjeevi too is heavily banking on his family. While producer and brother in law Allu Arvind is the sheet anchor of Praja Rajyam, brothers Nagababu and Pawan Kalyan play equally important roles. “All of Chiranjeevi’s decisions are influenced by his brother-in-law and brothers,” said a Praja Rajyam activist. The Telangana Rastra Samiti is not much different either. The TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is now encouraging his son, Mr K. Rama Rao, to take over the reins of the party.  KCR’s articulate nephew, Mr Harish Rao, is also a powerful presence in the party.

Planning Mega attack on Chiranjeevi!

Despite being a calm going person Chiranjeevi somehow developed enemies in his own field. Chiranjeevi’s ever growing popularity and fan following made some of his colleagues envy him.

Though envy is not the prime reason, Rajasekhar is among the Chiranjeevi’s enemies. ‘Tagore’ remake rights issue has worsen their relation furthermore. The alleged attack on Rajasekhar family by Chiru fans made him the latter’s permanent enemy.
While Chiranjeevi entered into politics and floated his own party, Rajasekhar joined the ruling party Congress. Now, Rajasekhar is directly targeting his longtime enemy Chiranjeevi with the shield of politics in his hand. Recently, Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha attacked Chiranjeevi on TV. However, they stayed calm as Posani fired back at them with even more severe tone.
The buzz is that Rajasekhar and Jeevitha are planning to attack their counterpart with their movie Satyameva Jayathe. This film is a remake of Amitabh’s Khakhi, a cop story which is being directed by Jeevitha. Though the script doesn’t have scope to target politicians, it is believed that the star couple has tried hard to inject few lines and scenes to attack Chiranjeevi. In his earlier film EVadaithe Nakenti too Rajasekhar made few comments against Chiranjeevi indirectly. But as per the buzz, the attack in Satyameva Jayathe would be more personal and powerful. The attack on Rajasekhar’s family too will be shown in detail in this film it seems.
We have to wait and watch what impact this movie will has upon Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam.

Chiranjeevi’s Rath to roll from October 5

The Chiru Rath is finally all set to roll from first week of October from north coastal region. In his first leg beginning October 5, Chiranjeevi will tour Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. Announcing this here on Sunday, Chiranjeevi said PRP would also take up a massive programme of tree planting and other socially relevant programmes. October 5 is the tentative date and he would cover about 50 kms per day.

He would then take a five-day break and then visit three Telangana districts. The details of his Telangana tour were being finalised and will be announced on Monday, he said. This would be followed by a tour of Rayalaseema. He said his party would not stop at planting the saplings. It will ask the party workers to take up the responsibility of nurturing the saplings into big trees, he said.

Replying to a question on the appointment of various committees in the party, he said it would begin only after the enrolment of the members. But before that the party would take up state-wide programme of flag hoisting week in every town and village which would herald the party’s political activity on a large scale. The party flags will be hoisted in every village from October 2 and the programme will be known as Vuroora Prajarajyam. This would be followed by enrolment of party members and inauguration of offices in the districts and mandals.

Expressing anguish at the growing number of suicide cases among weavers in Sircilla, Chiranjeevi said instead of attacking him for his visit to the area, the Congress leaders should concentrate on giving confidence to the weavers. “None of the steps taken by the government had instilled confidence among them and the government needs to explain the reasons for the pathetic situation,” he said.

Chiru yet to get right security

Chiranjeevi, who beat up many rowdies in films, is having sleepless nights about his security now. Search is on for excellent bodyguards to guard him during his public appearances.

His party is clueless how to go about it. One prominent leader in his party said, “Forget about personal bodyguards, we are unable to prevent important information discussed within the core team from leaking to the press and other political parties.”

Chiru tells YSR to learn from Gujarat

Hyderabad, Sept. 29: Praja Rajyam supremo Chiranjeevi on Sunday joined issue with Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy over development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and advised the Rajasekhara Reddy Government to take a cue from Gujarat.

"Let them visit Gujarat and see what the State Government there is doing. The Gujarat Government is playing the role of a facilitator not a broker in the promotion of SEZs," he said.

The strongly-worded statement, perhaps the first from him, came when reporters asked him to respond to Geetha Reddy’s remarks that he had better visit West Bengal before commenting upon the SEZs here in the State.

In Gujarat, industrialists purchased land directly from farmers for setting up SEZs while the State Government merely developed the infrastructure, Chiranjeevi explained.

"It’s a peculiar situation in Andhra Pradesh where the government is acting as a broker and acquiring land for rich industrialists at the cost of poor farmers," he alleged.

Pointing out that the SEZ Act clearly specified that farmers, whose lands were acquired for setting up trade zones, should be made stake-holders in the respective projects, the starturned- politician said, "the onus is on the government to ensure that affected farmers get their due. It can’t acquire land at throwaway prices from farmers and sell it at exorbitant rates to industrialists. It should share the profit thus accrued with the farmers." On the continuing suicides of powerloom workers in Sircilla, the megastar sought to know if the State Government had any answer. He called upon the workers not to lose heart and promised to bring light into their lives, if voted to power.

Chiranjeevi’s AP tour begins next week

Hyderabad, Sept 28: Megastar Chiranjeevi will embark on a state-wide tour next week to take his newly-floated Praja Rajyam party closer to the people.

He will start the much-awaited tour from Srikakulam district, the northeastern tip of Andhra Pradesh. After covering the coastal districts, the star will visit Telangana region in the second phase. The third phase will take him to Rayalseema region.

I will cover 50 km every day interacting with the people and explaining to them the policies of Praja Rajyam,’ he told a news conference here Sunday.

Chiranjeevi, who floated his party Aug 26, the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa, will be launching a week-long flag festival, "Oroora Praja Rajyam" (Praja Rajyam in every town) — a massive mass contact programme – from Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During the festival, the party flags will be hoisted in every village, town and city.

The party will also launch its membership drive on the same day. ‘I will give first membership to physically challenged Balakrishna Naidu and I will take the second membership,’ Chiranjeevi said. He had already announced the physically challenged youth would be the first member of the party.

The Praja Rajyam founder said the party would also plant 10 million trees all over the state during the flag festival. He asked all his fans and supporters to take part wholeheartedly in the plantation drive to increase the green cover and save the environment.

Each person becoming the member of the party will have to plant a sapling,’ he said.

Megastar, who recently visited Sircilla town to meet families of weavers who ended their lives during last few years, expressed deep shock over the suicide by three weavers in the town.

He announced financial help of Rs 25,000 to the families of five weavers who committed suicide during last few days. He said the government should take immediate steps to help the crisis-ridden weavers community.

Chiranjeevi, who said he entered politics after being inspired by former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam, criticized him for his support to the India-US nuclear deal.

‘He is a scientist and a statesman and he should not get involved in a political issue. Perhaps he has not carefully read the documents of the nuclear deal. It has a far reaching implications for the country,’ he said.

Chiranjeevi, who Friday visited Polepalli in Mahabunagar district to meet those displaced by pharma Special Economic Zone (SEZ), advised Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to visit Gujrat and see how the SEZs were being developed there without harming the interest of the farmers.

‘There should be no place for developing real estate in the SEZs. The land should be used only for the industrial activities,’ he said.

Chiru, know truth: YSR

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that Praja Rajyam Party President Chiranjeevi has resorted to mudslinging against his government without knowing the facts about the progress made. He responded to the comments of Chiru about the plight of weavers. In this context, YSR said that efforts would be made to provide livelihood to the weavers on par with the farmers. He reiterated that it's the responsibility of the government to uplift the weavers.

P C C - condemns Chiru comments strongly

P C C has strongly condemned on the allegations made by P R P Chief - Chiranjeevi and stated that he should know ground realities before he says anything. On Monday in Gandhi Bhavan there was a press meet held and stated that State Government has approved 56 SEZ's of which 18000 acres land procurement has been completed.

Chiru way of attacking rivals

P R P - Chief Chiru stated that he never attacks on personal criticism and never goes down on anypbody personally. Chiru found a diplomatic way of attacking rivals with pungent words. Wherever he goes, he raises the issues concerning the people and makes the people abuse the rival leaders in their own language, this is simple, Chiranjeevi would be surrounded by his fans, when he visits any place. Then he poses questions pointing out accusing fingers against the ruling party or the other party leaders. The fans reply to the questions, abusing his opponents in pungent words. He did this while speaking at Polepalli SEZ in Mahbubnagar on Friday. He asked the people how they would describe those who mediate between the government and industrialists. His fans standing in the front row said: "Dalareelu" (middlemen or brokers). Then he asked what they would call those who forcibly take over their lands; the answer came from fans again: "Rowdies". So, Chiranjeevi does not need to use filthy language; he can get it done through his fans!

C L P ask - Does Chiru knows what is SEZ?

Congress Legislative Party stated that Chiru does not know fundamentals of SEZ, only to get political mileage he is talking of SEZ. This was stated on Saturday in Gandhi Bhavan by official representative of party Tulasi Reddy Kamalakar Rao and Kodanka Reddy to media. It's good that Chiru to know what is SEZ and why government has taken up this project and it would be good that after knowing Chiru should talk about it.

Custom-built Chiru Ratham gets ready

Chiru stated that he is not like other leaders

P R P - Chief - Chiranjeevi had been to meet S E Z victims in Polepally in Mahaboob Nagar today, onthis eve he spoke to public there and stated that he is not like other leaders who casually come and go away. Chiru stated that he would start resolving all problems as soon as he gets into power. He stated that people have really hurted poor people with government selfish act. People over there stated that officers have asked them corruption to hand over their lands.
