Chiru tells YSR to learn from Gujarat

Hyderabad, Sept. 29: Praja Rajyam supremo Chiranjeevi on Sunday joined issue with Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy over development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and advised the Rajasekhara Reddy Government to take a cue from Gujarat.
 
"Let them visit Gujarat and see what the State Government there is doing. The Gujarat Government is playing the role of a facilitator not a broker in the promotion of SEZs," he said.
 
The strongly-worded statement, perhaps the first from him, came when reporters asked him to respond to Geetha Reddy’s remarks that he had better visit West Bengal before commenting upon the SEZs here in the State.
 
In Gujarat, industrialists purchased land directly from farmers for setting up SEZs while the State Government merely developed the infrastructure, Chiranjeevi explained.
 
"It’s a peculiar situation in Andhra Pradesh where the government is acting as a broker and acquiring land for rich industrialists at the cost of poor farmers," he alleged.
 
Pointing out that the SEZ Act clearly specified that farmers, whose lands were acquired for setting up trade zones, should be made stake-holders in the respective projects, the starturned- politician said, "the onus is on the government to ensure that affected farmers get their due. It can’t acquire land at throwaway prices from farmers and sell it at exorbitant rates to industrialists. It should share the profit thus accrued with the farmers." On the continuing suicides of powerloom workers in Sircilla, the megastar sought to know if the State Government had any answer. He called upon the workers not to lose heart and promised to bring light into their lives, if voted to power.

Chiranjeevi’s AP tour begins next week

 

Hyderabad, Sept 28: Megastar Chiranjeevi will embark on a state-wide tour next week to take his newly-floated Praja Rajyam party closer to the people.
 

He will start the much-awaited tour from Srikakulam district, the northeastern tip of Andhra Pradesh. After covering the coastal districts, the star will visit Telangana region in the second phase. The third phase will take him to Rayalseema region.
 
‘I will cover 50 km every day interacting with the people and explaining to them the policies of Praja Rajyam,’ he told a news conference here Sunday.
 
Chiranjeevi, who floated his party Aug 26, the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa, will be launching a week-long flag festival, "Oroora Praja Rajyam" (Praja Rajyam in every town) — a massive mass contact programme – from Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During the festival, the party flags will be hoisted in every village, town and city.
 

The party will also launch its membership drive on the same day. ‘I will give first membership to physically challenged Balakrishna Naidu and I will take the second membership,’ Chiranjeevi said. He had already announced the physically challenged youth would be the first member of the party.
 
The Praja Rajyam founder said the party would also plant 10 million trees all over the state during the flag festival. He asked all his fans and supporters to take part wholeheartedly in the plantation drive to increase the green cover and save the environment.
 
‘Each person becoming the member of the party will have to plant a sapling,’ he said.
 
Megastar, who recently visited Sircilla town to meet families of weavers who ended their lives during last few years, expressed deep shock over the suicide by three weavers in the town.
 
He announced financial help of Rs 25,000 to the families of five weavers who committed suicide during last few days. He said the government should take immediate steps to help the crisis-ridden weavers community.
 
Chiranjeevi, who said he entered politics after being inspired by former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam, criticized him for his support to the India-US nuclear deal. 
 
‘He is a scientist and a statesman and he should not get involved in a political issue. Perhaps he has not carefully read the documents of the nuclear deal. It has a far reaching implications for the country,’ he said.
 
Chiranjeevi, who Friday visited Polepalli in Mahabunagar district to meet those displaced by pharma Special Economic Zone (SEZ), advised Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to visit Gujrat and see how the SEZs were being developed there without harming the interest of the farmers.
 
‘There should be no place for developing real estate in the SEZs. The land should be used only for the industrial activities,’ he said. 

Chiru, know truth: YSR

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that Praja Rajyam Party President Chiranjeevi has resorted to mudslinging against his government without knowing the facts about the progress made. He responded to the comments of Chiru about the plight of weavers. In this context, YSR said that efforts would be made to provide livelihood to the weavers on par with the farmers. He reiterated that it's the responsibility of the government to uplift the weavers.

P C C - condemns Chiru comments strongly

P C C has strongly condemned on the allegations made by P R P Chief - Chiranjeevi and stated that he should know ground realities before he says anything. On Monday in Gandhi Bhavan there was a press meet held and stated that State Government has approved 56 SEZ's of which 18000 acres land procurement has been completed.

Chiru way of attacking rivals

P R P - Chief Chiru stated that he never attacks on personal criticism and never goes down on anypbody personally. Chiru found a diplomatic way of attacking rivals with pungent words. Wherever he goes, he raises the issues concerning the people and makes the people abuse the rival leaders in their own language, this is simple, Chiranjeevi would be surrounded by his fans, when he visits any place. Then he poses questions pointing out accusing fingers against the ruling party or the other party leaders.The fans reply to the questions, abusing his opponents in pungent words.He did this while speaking at Polepalli SEZ in Mahbubnagar on Friday. He asked the people how they would describe those who mediate between the government and industrialists. His fans standing in the front row said: "Dalareelu" (middlemen or brokers). Then he asked what they would call those who forcibly take over their lands; the answer came from fans again: "Rowdies". So, Chiranjeevi does not need to use filthy language; he can get it done through his fans!

C L P ask - Does Chiru knows what is SEZ?

Congress Legislative Party stated that Chiru does not know fundamentals of SEZ, only to get political mileage he is talking of SEZ. This was stated on Saturday in Gandhi Bhavan by official representative of party Tulasi Reddy Kamalakar Rao and Kodanka Reddy to media. It's good that Chiru to know what is SEZ and why government has taken up this project and it would be good that after knowing Chiru should talk about it.

Custom-built Chiru Ratham gets ready

Even as the Praja Rajyam Party (PR) managers are busy finalising the finer details of the party president Chiranjeevi’s road shows, the ‘ratham’ to take him to people is getting ready at a workshop specialising in fabricating such vehicles on the outskirts of the city. Contrary to expectations that it would be a hi-tech, gadget-equipped set of wheels, it appears to be just a light commercial vehicle converted into something that will effectively serve as a moving dais for the leader on short-haul drives. Built on a cabin and chassis of an Eicher Mitsubishi 1095 costing Rs. 7.65 lakh, the workers at Real Cars Auto Garage added some custom-built modifications. Managing Director of the garage, M.N.V. Ravindra Babu, said the additions included a raised platform and an air-conditioned cabin with three comfort seats, at a cost of Rs. 12 lakh extra.  The raised platform can take the weight of at least five people, including the leader, for whom there is a small, collapsible step a foot higher. Also in place is a high-end sound system with 10 speakers designed to carry Mr. Chiranjeevi’s voice across to audiences in a 200-metre radius. The veil of secrecy that surrounds anything and everything has also interestingly been extended to this workshop. The ‘ratham’ has been given two coats of white paint over a week ago and the fabricators are awaiting word as to the words that are to be inscribed, as to the name of the ‘ratham’. Only a day ago, party managers are said to have asked the garage to have a sticker affixed, depicting the ‘sun’ with blazing rays, the symbol of the Praja Rajyam.

Chiru stated that he is not like other leaders

P R P - Chief - Chiranjeevi had been to meet S E Z victims in Polepally in Mahaboob Nagar today, onthis eve he spoke to public there and stated that he is not like other leaders who casually come and go away. Chiru stated that he would start resolving all problems as soon as he gets into power. He stated that people have really hurted poor people with government selfish act. People over there stated that officers have asked them corruption to hand over their lands.

Barely one month into its existence, Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi's party Praja Rajyam seems to be bogged down by internal strife.
Fans of the star are miffed at being sidelined by the politicians who are trying to hog the limelight in the company of Chiranjeevi.

"We are getting a raw deal in the party," president of a district Chiranjeevi fans' association lamented at the Praja Rajyam party office in Hyderabad on Friday.
Ironically, senior political leaders who jumped into the actor's outfit leaving their parent parties too aren't exactly happy with the state of affairs in Praja Rajyam.
The coterie around Chiranjeevi is reportedly trying to dictate terms even to seasoned politicians, who earlier held important positions in their parties as well as the government. Now, some leaders are apparently regretting their decision to join hands with Chiranjeevi.

"It's a different kind of mess out here," one former minister told PTI. "People here seem to have lot of airs about themselves. You don't find such a situation in any political party," he pointed out.
Worse, enthusiastic people who are thronging the Praja Rajyam office in Jubilee Hills to catch a glimpse of Chiranjeevi are literally being necked out by over-zealous security personnel.
This has become a routine affair at the party office, the people complain.

Political couple quits TDP for Chiranjeevi

Even those accompanying party leaders are not being allowed entry into the Praja Rajyam office causing heartburn not only to the people but also the leaders.
Two days ago, a woman leader of the party who switched sides from the Telugu Desam had faced an ignominious experience when one of Chiranjeevi's brothers came to the party office.
The security personnel reportedly asked the leader, a former legislator, to stand up as 'sir' was coming. When she refused to oblige, Chiranjeevi's brother allegedly pulled up the security personnel for having failed to follow the system.

The woman leader then left the party office in a huff.
Chiranjeevi's youngest brother and actor Pavan Kalyan is reportedly encouraging certain groups in every district to run shows parallel to the former's fans. "This is leaving everyone confused," one district president of Chiranjeevi fans' association pointed out.

Kidnapping case registered against Chiranjeevi

Already, the actor's fans and the politicians are at loggerheads over managing the party affairs in the districts and the latest developments will only complicate matters further, it is feared.
As usual, the Chiranjeevi camp seems to have not taken note of the affairs in the party. The simmering differences will come out in the open once Chiranjeevi begins his tour of the state.

Chiru - dont complicate Polapalli issue

Mallu Ravi - M L A Jadcharla stated that with the visit of Chiranjeevi into Polepally the problem would not solve instead issues would become more complicated, this was stated by Ravi to media today. He stated that if he visits then government should rethink on its packages given for benefit for people over there. So far SEZ victims were troubled a lot by political parties and with the entry of Chiru nothing much is going to happen as this is not practically possible.

Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that once he floats party and goes into public he would know where he stands. Chiru CM, Allu Super CM!

If Chiranjeevi becomes the chief minister, then the state will soon have a super chief minister too. And he is none other than Allu Aravind. It is well known that it is Allu Aravind who controls each and every move of Chiranjeevi And Chiranjeevi does not take any decision without consulting Allu Aravind. So much so that, even Chiranjeevi’s meetings with important people have to be first vetted by Allu Aravind.

At this rate the state will get two CMs with one vote if you vote for Chiranjeevi Allu Aravind could become an extra-constitutional authority by default if Chiranjeevi were to become the chief minister. Will Chiranjeevi take steps to keep his brother-in-law at a safe distance at least in his avatar as a politician? Wait and watch. 

Who is the Boss? Chiru or Allu?!

Allu Aravind is the uncrowned king of Praja Rajyam. Chiranjeevi may be the founder president of Praja Rajyam but for all practical purposes, it is Allu Aravind who has the final say in all matters. It is no secret that he is taking all the key decisions. 

Even in the appointment of adhoc committees, it is Allu Aravind who is the deciding factor. He has drawn up the list of members for each committee. Chiranjeevi is expected to put his seal of approval on the lists and this is only seen as a formality now.

There is already some murmurs in the party over the over dependence of Chiranjeevi on Allu Arvind. Many politicians who have joined the party in recent times are already resenting the high handed attitude of ‘Big Boss’ Allu Aravind.

Though Megastar Mega Movie Stalin which is a Megahit filled Chiru and his fans with happiness yet it also left sadness to Chiru and his fans. Chiru passed his condolences and Sympathy to all family members of Nagaraju, Sheik Hussain who were killed in Vinukonda with current shock while tying the Banners, Adi Narayana in Tadipatri who was killed by wall debris, Rama Rao from Sathena palli who was killed in Road accident while returning home after watching movie and Ravi Kumar from Tadipatri who was severely hurt in stampede at the ticket counter. The Man of the society Chiru did not leave the issue just by passing his sympathy and condolences, he also requested his brother Nagendra Babu to provide financial support for all the people who were either killed or hurt during the Stalin Release. Once again Megastar proves he is the Man with Real Heart. Nagendra Babu while speaking to the press requested Chiru fans to take extra care and to pay more attention to avoid this kind of incidents in future.

Bharatiya Janatha Party - Senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu stated that Prajarajyam party floated by Chiranjeevi would surely play a vital role in state politics but to what extent will the impact be is right now difficult to access. Naidu stated that  surely next election would result hung government. This he stated on Tuesday in Patancheru of Medka District as part of Sankalpa Yatra and L K Advani is making countrywide Sankalpa Yatra.

P R P Chief - Chiranjeevi second round of surprise visit is also going to be in Palamur district is the predictions, first visit was in Siricilla of Karimnagar district to inquire about weavers difficulties. Megastar Chiranjeevi Grand daughter - daughter of Srija Sirish name has been finalized as 'Nivruthi', as such so far this naming function date has not yet decided. On Monday her name function should have been held, as Megastar Chiranjeevi is busy with his political activities so far he has not gone and seen his grand daughter. The day on which she was born Chiru - Surekha and some more relatives had been to see the child. Srija ready to canvas for P R P

Srija who opposed her parents - eloped and married Sirish Bharadwaj is now of late trying to come close to her father Megastar Chiranjeevi. Srija stated that she is prepared to be canvas for her father Prajarajyam political party. On Wednesday she spoke to media in Vizag, if she joins PRP then it means even Sirish is as good as joined PRP. This is looking more like Chandrababu Naidu joining N T R Telugu Desam Party.

Chiru against Mahakutami

Prajarajyam Party Chief - Chiranjeevi spoke to media in Hyderabad and stated that P R P will not be joining Mahakutami but at same time there may be some aliances depeding on situation during elections,, we are constituting some committees which would give their report in another couple of days on sensitive issues like Telangana etc, Chiru confirmed that they had preliminary disscusions with C P I which is not yet finalized. Chiru confirmed that they are not in a hurry for any alliances at this point of time.

Murthy, was the earliest bird to get in groove, in order to control damage caused by Mr. Manda Krishna with his attacks on  Mr.Chiranjeevi, Mr. Murthy was asked to assume the latter's office as the secretary overnight. Mr Murthy is very popular among Dalits as a bureaucrat and politician. He went on record in Media on the contentious issues like, categorization of SCs and  separate statehood for Telangana. Mr. Chiranjeevi didn't like some body speaking on his behalf and getting mileage. Mr. Murthy was kept aside. He is the least contacted person in the party now. Then followed with of Mr. Kathi Padama Rao, who spearheaded many Dalit Movements in Andhra Pradesh. After joining Praja Rajyam Party, he invited Mr. Chiranjeevi to the wedding of his son, which drew the attention of the media for wrong reason. His son's bride belongs to different caste. Mr.Chiranjeevi felt for having attended the marriage and later he kept Padma Rao at distance. Dr. Mitra, one of the official spokes-persons of the party is also not happy with the way things are handled,  he is well known to the world that he is architect and ideologue of the party, his importance is reduced by getting Parakala Prabhakar and making another official spokes person. Dr. Mitra is making his own group in the party with erstwhile members of Left Parties. Mr. Chiranjeevi doesn't like any leader to be focused.  This is the strategy adopted by Megastar Chiranjeevi, may be this is for good cause of the state. 

Scold Chiru, get party ticket

Praja Rajyam party leader Smt. Sobha Nagi Reddy today launched scathing attack against actress turned TDP mahila wing leader Roja. Smt. Reddy spoke to the media, responding to Roja's remarks against Chiru. "Finding that her name is not there in TDP list of candidates for the coming elections, Roja immediately chose to mudsling against Chiru. Now, she got assurance that she would get the ticket. This way, our leader Chiru helped Roja," she said. "Aspirants of TDP tickets should try scolding Chiru," she quipped.

Chiru wants Government to answer what they mean by developments?

 


P R P - Chief - Megastar Chiranjeevi is touring Sirisilla , Karimanar district, he reached Sirisilla at 10 AM and met weaver families who's family head committed suicide due to poverty and negligence of Government. Chiru was surprised when he heard that lady saying she lost her husband as they were having debt of Rs.2000/-. Having heard this Chiru posed a direction question to Government - they have to answer whether Suicides is what they term as State development? Chiru requested the weavers families to wait for some more time, so that he would take care of all these families. Chiru spent more than 40 minutes with those families.

Chiranjeevi hosts grand Iftar Party

Chiranjeevi promises to speak in Urdu language by next Ramzan. He hosted Iftar party in Hyderabad on Wednesday (September 17, 2008) that was well-attended by prominent Minority leaders, muslim businessmen, and fans from the same community. Chiranjeevi who also acted in couple of Hindi films said that he is not well-versed with the Urdu language but would definitely speak it by next Ramzan.

He also told them that he has several muslim friends in childhood. “Even observed fasts with them during the holy Ramdan festival,” he informed. Much to the delight of the guests at the party, megastar also recited the Arabic alphabets "Alif, Bay, Tay, Say" and wrote them down.

Chiru's smart approach to media

Megastar Chiranjeevi political party Prajarajyam is almost one month old, there is not as much developments as expected other than few expected leaders joining from various parties. Even media is bored as there is no much news from Chiru camp nor got a chance for a personal interview with Chiru and his comments. Even his media managers are not guiding him for any interviews. Chiru turned out to be very smart, he wanted that he should be informed in advance about the questions they would ask him. Chiranjeevi agreed to give them important interviews and Chiru didn't fall into trap of jouranalists, he ensured that  media got only what he wanted to say.

Chiru is not money minded man

Megastar Chiranjeevi is not commercial nor money man to prove this  if we remember the hit film 'Style' starring Lawrence and Prabhu Deva and produced by Lagadapati Sridhar under his banner. Apparently, Megastar did a small cameo in the climax of the film which always stood as a highlight for the film. According to film nagar sources, Chiru did this to help Lawrence and promote his career at that point of time and he had also sent out a strict word to the unit of 'Style' that not only him but not even any of his men that come along with him must not be given any money or any other gifts. Annoyed N B K fans - worry T D P

The Telugu Desam leaders are highly perturbed by the attack on Praja Rajyam leader, Mr C. Ramachandraiah, by aggressive fans of actor Balakrishna for a comment he made against the NTR family. They are worried about such incidents becoming the norm after the actor joins the TD poll campaign. Hundreds of Balakrishna fans barged into the residence of Mr Ramachandraiah, a former TD leader, the other day. The TD leaders have brought the issue to the attention of the party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu. “Even before the actor has started campaigning, his fans are behaving like this,” said a senior party leader. “What will happen once he comes in?” Balakrishna, Harikrishna, Junior NTR, Kalyan Ram and Tarak have good fan following across the state.

There are also fears that rivalries between the fans would spill over to the streets, harming the TD’s interests. Emotions can spiral out of control as it became evident in the attack on the family of film actor Rajasekhar by Chiranjeevi fans recently. Also, local leaders of the TD have already come into conflict with over enthusiastic fans. In Kurnool, Balakrishna and Nandamuri fans locked horns with local TD leadership and organised a public meeting with NTR family members on their own. When the TD unit openly issued a statement against the meeting, the annoyed fans hit back and invited Tarak to the event, much to the embarrassment of local leaders. Kurnool district TD president, Mr Byreddy Rajasekar Reddy, and the official spokesperson, Mr M. Surendra Reddy, have requested Mr Naidu to control the unruly fans.

Is Chiru that potent to talk to Y S R?

Posani Krishna Murali says that they will torture and kill the critics of the Chiru with their words.  He is critical of all those people mainly from film industry who are attacking Chiru.  He blasted the critics saying that those who are questioning Chiru’s entry into politics are not influential.

I Have No Time For Debates

As Prajarajyam Party lead by Chiranjeevi says that Congress is their main rival in coming elections, Congress leaders are throwing challenges at Chiranjeevi. Latest is that Annam Ramnaryana Reddy challenged Chiranjeevi for a public debate on the development programs handled by YSR. Even though Chiranjeevi did not respond to this challenge, he answered the question raised by the media on the same. He said that he has many other priority things to handle and debates that will push back his schedules are not necessary for him at this point. He further added, 'I don't have to respond to all kinds of challenges thrown against me'. Chiranjeevi is busy with his schedule and the entire camp is handsful gearing up to go to the people very soon.

Ex-M.P K.S.R.Murthy responded to Ramnarayana Reddy's challenge saying, 'if Chiru had to debate, he will do so with YSR who is the party leader. Why should Chiranjeevi debate with Annam. I am open for the debate with Annam or any one, if he wishes so', said K.S.R.Murthy.

Congress afraid of Chiru

C Ramachandraiah, former TDP leader and Rajya Sabha member slammed Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s comment saying that public service is not like acting in films.  He said how faction politics helps in the same way cine glamour will help in politics.  He commented that the Congress party is afraid of Chiru’s image in politics too.  He reminded that the Congress party also commented in the same manner when late NTR entered into State politics.  Ramachandraiah said that hopeless Congress is begging party president Sonia Gandhi to tour the State. 

In Tamil Nadu, after film stars entry the Congress party lost its base and the same will happen here, he added.

Ramachandraiah, a former Rajya Sabha member and prominent backward class leader from Kadapa district, joined the new party in the presence of the actor.He was in T D P since 1982 and held several key positions in the party resigned from Rajya Sabha recently with the differences that popped up between himself and party leadership.

Dr. Y S R justifies his comments on Chiru

Recently during political visit of Sonia Gandhi to Ananthapur, Dr. Y S Rajashekar Reddy stated that politics and cinema has no concurrence, he asked public to inform the same to all the artists who are planning to enter into politics. On Saturday Y S R went to Delhi to participate in C W C meeting and he spoke to media on the same and stated that he has not commented directly on Chiranjeevi and as such he said that it was just an advise for artists who are also there in our party. Y S R said that politics needs daring nature, sacrificing and service mindedness.

State tour will be litmus test for Chiru

About a fortnight after launching his party Praja Rajyam, Chiranjeevi would be embarking on his maiden mass contact programme towards the month-end, amid criticism that he lacks clarity about his political agenda. A plan for the actor's tour of the 23 districts in Andhra Pradesh has almost been finalised, party spokesperson P Mithra said in Hyderabad.

The main political parties in the state -- TDP and Congress - sharpened their attack on the actor after the Praja Rajyam's spokesman expressed confidence that the new party would emerge as a viable alternative to them. While TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu described the Praja Rajyam's assertions of emerging as a major political force as 'day-dreaming', the ruling Congress dubbed it as a 'laughable remark'.

The Praja Rajyam party, however, refused to be drawn into a war of words with other parties. Praja Rajyam activists, though, held a protest in Tirupati in 'Gandhigiri' style against Roja's charges. In the face of the criticism, Mithra said the party would soon come out with policy documents on various issues. The party would also put in place an organisational structure soon, the spokesman said.

Seeking to dispel the criticism that he remained a non-starter, Chiranjeevi said he is learning to walk as a politician and expressed confidence that with people's support he would soon gallop and go beyond the reach of other parties. He is expected to spell out his stand on various issues and the agenda of his party during the state-wide tour. As he gears up for his mass contact programme, the Telugu superstar faces the stupendous challenge of proving his critics wrong and taking on the confident Congress and a determined TDP.

Will Chiru- Balayya political clash be interesting?

To counter Mr Charismatic Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam, stars of the Nandmuri clan Balakrishna, Junior NTR, Kalyan Ram, will hold road shows to garner support for the Telugu Desam party (TDP.) The clash between the two star families can be billed as a clash of titans to make the contest in around 100-odd seats worth keeping an eye on. Chiranjeevi holds the highest number of fan clubs followed by die-hard fans of Balakrishna and supporters of both the camps are known for betting big bucks on box-office records of their respective stars.

"If Balakrishna campaigns or if even he contests, then our Praja Rajyam will have neck-toneck fights in numerous seats in Rayalaseema, but I don't think they can make a big impact in other regions," says Gopal, an ardent Chiranjeevi supporter. With a staunch supporter conceding anticipation a close fight, it seems that a keen contest is on the cards. "We can give a strong fight in the Krishna- Guntur districts, north Andhra and some seats in coastal areas as well," reveals the follower of Nandamuri kinfolk.

TDP President Chandrababu Naidu has tactfully roped in NTR's family to counter Chiranjeevi's popularity. With the star-turned-politician all set for his campaign trail, the former Chief Minister has urged the 'stars' of the famed clan to begin 'Yuva Garjana' to unveil the statues of late NTR besides addressing political rallies. "He had no other choice, since he had to halt the exodus of leaders besides rejuvenating demoralised party cadre," says a senior political analyst who opines that a few more big leaders are on their way out.

Journalists’ walkout from PR

We are fed up with the term walkout as far as it is concerned with our legislators. Even journalists are resorted to this. Journalists expressed their displeasure with walkout of Praja Rajyam citing that they were not allowed to sit in the media chamber allotted to them in the party office.

Media persons complained that though they got invitation, media chamber is occupied by Chiru fans and organizers failed to vacate the place for media persons.

Big B to canvass for Chiru’s PR

Samajwadi Party is ready to support Chiru’s Praja Rajyam said its party leader Amar Singh. In this connection Jaya Bachchan and Jayaprada will meet Chiru on 7th of this month.

Amar Singh told to media that his party will campaign for PR. Amitabh Bachchan who is close to Chiru will campaign for PR.

Why SP is showing so much interest in PR. Simple. When SP moved closer to the Congress and ditched UNPA, Chandrababu Naidu moved closer to Mayawati, arch rival of SP. Therefore SP wants to give TDP its own medicine of real politik.

I have clarity - Chiru

Chiru responded to criticism saying that he has clarity on politics and social issues. He said that he wants to know in deep the issues of public through his fans.

For those who are saying that the party has no clarity on peoples’ issues, our party manifesto will answer said Chiru.

Chiru said that his fans are his great strength. He added that he will reach the public very soon and reply to his distracters.

PR spokesman, Dr Mitra expressed anguish over the reports in some newspapers that there are no public (praja) in Praja Rajyam. He questioned then how the gates are broken to meet Chiru.

Mitra said that in the party office, there is festive mood every day and he had not seen this in any party in India.

Amar Singh, Jayaprada, Jaya Bachchan call on Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (IANS) Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and party MPs Jayaprada and Jaya Bachchan Sunday called on Telugu superstar-turned-politician Chiranjeevi to greet him on his entry into politics but said the question of an electoral alliance was not discussed.

"Chiranjeevi is like a family member to us and we have come here to greet him as personal friends and not as politicians," Amar Singh told the media after half-an-hour-long meeting with the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president.

Amar Singh, however, did not rule out the possibility of an electoral alliance between his party and the PRP in Andhra Pradesh.

"Chiranjeevi is a good person and if good people don't come into politics it will remain dirty. He is a member of our fraternity and we felt very happy when he decided to enter politics with the inspiration from Mother Teresa and (former president A.P.J.) Abdul Kalam. Politics is not easy as one has to be prepared to face allegations and criticism," he said.

He, however, said there was no contradiction between Samajwadi Party's alliance with the Congress and his meeting Chiranjeevi.

"I am not a member of the Congress party and the talks of alliance between the Congress and Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh do not cover the entire country. The talks are still on and it is not certain whether the alliance with the Congress will materialize or not," he said.

He said even if the Samajwadi Party's ties with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had continued, he would have come and met Chiranjeevi as a friend. "Friendship and politics are two different things," he said.

"Jaya Bachchanji came as Chiranjeevi is a very good and close friend of Amitabh Bachchan. If Amitabhji was not out of the country he would also have come to greet Chiranjeevi. Abhishek and Aishwarya would have also accompanied him," Amar Singh said.

On Jayaprada, Amar Singh said that she had acted in many films opposite Chiranjeevi and as a member of film industry it was natural for her to come and greet Chiranjeevi.

The meeting assumed significance in view of reports that Jayaprada was planning to contest from Andhra Pradesh as the Congress party wants Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) Lok Sabha seat, which she currently represents. "I will answer this at an appropriate time," the actress-turned-politician said when asked whether she was looking for a constituency in the southern state.

PRP spokesman P. Prabhakar told reporters it was a courtesy call and no politics was discussed during the meeting.

Case registered on Chiranjeevi

Chiranjeevi is caught in a controversy after he attended an inter-caste wedding that triggered objections from the bride's family. The occasion was the marriage of noted Dalit activist-writer K Padma Rao's son Chetan with Nalini, a 24- year-old engineer belonging to an upper caste. The matinee idol attended the wedding, held at Film Nagar Club here on Saturday last, and blessed the couple. He also spoke spiritedly about the virtues of inter-caste marriage and the need for creating a casteless society.

Accusing the actor of staging a drama only to gain political mileage for his newly-launched party, Nalini's parents T Subba Rao and T Mani pointed out how Chiranjeevi himself had disapproved of his teenage daughter's proposal to marry her lover outside the caste. They went to a local television channel with their version of the story and made allegations against the actor and the Dalit writer. Nalini's parents claimed their daughter was engaged to a boy of the same caste just a week ago. Now the parents filed a case on Chiranjeevi and Padma Rao at SR Nagar police station here in Hyderabad

Tammineni dumps TDP, joins Praja Rajyam

A piqued former minister and senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders Tammineni Seetharam deserted his parent TDP on Thursday, plunging the party into crisis in north Telangana area only to strengthen the newly-formed Praja Rajyam party, floated by film actor Chiranjivi.

He joined the Praja Rajyam in the presence of Chiranjivi and other senior politicians who have recently pledged support to the film actor.

In his resignation letter sent to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, Seetharam expressed his "deep displeasure" over the functioning of the party. He specifically blamed K Yerran Naidu for keeping the party under his thumb. Naidu, he said, had been giving importance to those who were causing damage to the party.

The party ideals, enunciated by N T Rama Rao, were conspicuously absent now, he said. That led to his deserting the party and deciding to join Praja Rajyam.

Srija to steal thunder from Chiru?

Politics is a murky place where a candidate focuses more on the pitfalls of the opponent than the positives he had. Praja Rajyam founder, Chiru is making baby steps in attacking political rivals starting with YSR on sale of government lands, corruption in projects and SEZs etc.

So far there is no brutal attack on Chiru from prominent leaders except a few nasty comments by ‘chhota mota’ leaders.

Srija, the youngest daughter eloped and married her boy friend made headlines at that time. Will politicians use this incident to attack Chiru in the future? The rivals may argue that the man cannot manage his own family how can he rule the State? Or keep the family off limits and children especially off limits?

Why this double standards, Chiru?

Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi’s blessings for the inter-caste marriage noted Dalit leader Katti Padma Rao’s son the other day received a lot of flak.

The bride is said to be a Kamma girl and it is a love marriage. The girl’s parents, who were dead against this love affair, did not attend the marriage. But, what angered them was Chiranjeevi attending the marriage and blessing the couple. What is more, the megastar welcomed such marriages and even declared that the bride was like his daughter.

They wondered if Chiranjeevi approves of such marriages, why he didn’t show the same magnanimity towards his daughter Srija, who married a Brahmin boy. Does it not amount to double standards? They asked.

Katti Padma Rao son’s marriage rubs salt in Chiru’s wounds!

Praja Rajyam supremo Chiru is facing ire of Katti Padma Rao’s daughter-in-law’s parents for blessing the inter-caste marriage. The bride is a Kamma girl aged 24 years and it is a love marriage.

The girl’s parents feel that the marriage had Chiru’s blessings. They are questioning whether Chiru can accept a low caste girl as his daughter-in-law and why can’t he accept his daughter’s love marriage.

On the other hand, Katti Padma Rao says that Chiru has nothing to do with the marriage and he attended the function after marriage.

The parents of bride allege that they were kidnapped and kept in a house and there is no response from Chiru when they visited his office on Sunday.

Padma Rao says that the marriage is done with the mutual consent of bride and groom. Prominent people like C Narayana Reddy, Goreti Venkanna etc graced the inter-caste marriage. Padma Rao further added that the bride is free to go to their parent’s house or even she can take divorce.
