YSR in Chiranjeevi native place today

HYDERABAD: Two months after Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi undertook a whirlwind tour of Kadapa district beginning from Pulivendula, it is now the turn of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to launch his road show from Mogalturu, the native village of the actor on Saturday.
During his two-day tour of West Godavari district from Saturday to participate in a series of government functions, Dr. Reddy has decided to target the actor-turned-politician by launching his road show from Mogalturu.

Though, the Congress circles were keen that Dr. Reddy conduct a road show in the actor’s native village more than two months ago, it could not materialise due to ban on such shows by the AP High court. Congress leaders want to make most out of the Chief Minister’s visit to Mogalturu village in Narsapur constituency. “The tour is as good as launching the election campaign from rival leader’s native village,” a Congress legislator from West Godavari remarked.

Dr. Reddy will reach Mogalturu at 11 a.m. where he would address the first public meeting. Chalking out the Chief Minister’s programme carefully, local leaders have ensured that he will lay foundation stone for new works and address meetings in Sitarampuram, Narasapur, Palacole, Gummuluru, Achanta, Marteru and Penugonda in Narsapur, Palacole and Achanta Assembly segments.

Pawan marries Renu

To counter the criticism from political parties, Pawan Kalyan today (Wednesday, January 28, 2009) married his longtime girlfriend and live-in partner Renu. Both of them have five-year-old son Akira. Pawan and Renu have been living together for the last 7 years as couple but their bond has no legal sanctity. He recently divorced his first wife Nandini and now officially married Renu. The marriage took place at Pawan’s residence in Nandi Hills in Hyderabad. Only family members, close associates, Pawan’s friends from film industry and Praja Rajyam party leaders attended the wedding
.
Congress party leaders recently criticized Pawan for not marrying Renu but giving lectures on ‘Stree Sankshemam’. Hence Pawan decided to give legal stamp to his relationship with Renu.

Praja Rajyam to go it alone in LS, Assembly polls

Chittoor (AP), Jan 23 (PTI) Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi today expressed confidence that his party Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) can go it alone in the coming Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh assembly polls and still emerge victorious.
"Let's show our strength. Only we have the strength to go it alone. Because, who else has so much public support? We don't have to go after any party for alliance," he said, addressing road shows in Chittoor district.

Chiranjeevi's remarks assume significance in the wake of the disagreement between Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and TDP-Left combination to clinch a "grand alliance" for the ensuing elections and amid reports that the Telangana party may look towards the Praja Rajyam.

He said that Praja Rajyam is the true alternative to the ruling Congress and main opposition TDP.

The two parties have failed to deliver goods and meet the expectations of people, he alleged. PTI

Babu blamed for closure of dairy

KUPPAM: Recaling his connection with Kuppam as Indrasena Reddy in the film `Indra’ eight years ago, Praja Rajyam Party chief Chiranjeevi, went nostalgic and said that he is the servant of people and had come to lead them towards path of development with their blessings.Even though, he was three hours behind schedule, people in large number gathered to welcome him at the helipad, where he landed from Bangalore. Addressing a large gathering at RTC bus station in the town, Chiranjeevi lashed against Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been representing Kuppam constituency in the Assembly for more than a decade saying “Though he represented the constituency first as Chief Minister and later as Opposition leader, there is not much development in the region.

Every one knows who was responsible for closure of Chittoor Dairy. For his own Heritage, he chose to render it defunct,” he said.Chiranjeevi taking exception to the derogatory remarks made by Chandrababu against PRP, calling it ‘Valasala Party (party of political migrants) said: “He (Naidu) has no moral right to say so, for it is an open secret that who had migrated to which party. He is the one who with an open hands welcomed Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, when he left Congress. People also had not forgotten the episode of D Nagendar, who changed parties and the role of TDP chief in it,” he said.PRP chief did not even spare the ruling Congress party and said that corruption rules large in that party. Citing examples of Brahmani Steels, Obulapuram Mines, Chimakurti Granites etcs, he said that people are well aware of what the party leaders are doing for their families and relatives and what they are doing for the common man.

He wondered how the fortunes of the Congress supporters have changed in a short span of four years. He also questioned why the Government is hell bent on giving thousands of acres to a Gulf-based company in the given situation, if not for some selfish agenda.Government lands should be protected for future development activities and should not be given to affluent in the name of SEZs, ports etc..

PRP Hopefuls bet on Ram Charan’s flick

There is tremendous craze for snapping the distribution rights for Ram Charan Teja’s current film being directed by S.S.Rajamouli. The movie is one of the hottest projects in 2009 as Rajamouli, the master of mass entertainers, is helming the movie. That is why, candidates who are seeking ticket from Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam Party are betting on this film. Moreover, the hopefuls are trying to snap the rights of the film’s distribution in their areas for whopping prices.

Producer Allu Aravind, who has already hit the jackpot with Ghajini in Hindi, is now being chased by the hopeful candidates of PRP to get the distribution rights of this movie.

Chiru promises secure State for women

HYDERABAD: Promising safety to women, Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi promised to take steps to establish special courts and more women police stations, if voted to power.Addressing a State-level meet of the party’s women wing, Mahila Rajyam, here today, he urged the women activists of the party to fight against women molesters, and told them that they need not take his permission for taking up such programmes. Chiranjeevi assured that top priority would be accorded to women in the distribution of party tickets. The meeting was attended by a large number of women activists from various districts. However, failure of power supply brought the meeting to an abrupt end.Interacting with the participants, Chiranjeevi lamented that women were not safe under the Congress rule and pointed out that Mayor of Nellore Corporation and also Union Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi were being harassed in the party. Many women narrated their tales of woe and urged Chiranjeevi to step in to address them. Assuring to take up their problems, Chiranjeevi said that he bonded well with women and said that even the heroines in his films felt secure with him.

Go to grassroots to educate electorate: Chiru

Hyderabad, January 20: Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi on Monday exhorted party leaders to galvanise cadres and get them ready for the elections.

He addressing members of various committees from seven districts Krishna, Kurnool, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Nellore, Nizamabad and East Godavari at a day-long motivation workshop organised for them at Shilpa Kala Vedika here.

He wanted the party leaders to go to the grassroots and educate people about the party’s agenda of ‘change and social justice’. “Get to work as if the polls are tomorrow or the day after. Do not wait for instructions from the leadership. You are aware of people’s problems and the solutions PR is offering for their alleviation,” he said.

Referring to criticism from other parties that the PR had no concrete programmes, he said, “Who are they to ask me? A hungry man first needs food and I have plans to do just that. Then I will get work on agriculture, power and welfare. We have brains working on these sectors and chalking out plans. I promise that every programme of the Praja Rajyam will be to help the poor.”

Mr. Chiranjeevi asked party leaders not to be disturbed by criticism from political opponents. In just seven months, the PR was able to gain the trust of the people, so much so, other parties were getting jittery. “Praja Rajyam is surely an alternative in the State,” he said.

Enrolment sought

Pawan Kalyan, president, Yuva Rajyam, has sought enrolment of an estimated 29 lakh youth as voters to ensure their participation in the election process and offered his party’s services to do this job at college and university level. I. V . Subba Rao, Chief Electoral Officer, to whom Mr. Pawan submitted a memorandum on Monday, responded by promising to enlist maximum number of youths under the special drive ‘Young Tarang’ that began in the State but was disinclined to take assistance from any party.
Mr. Pawan proposed that the Election Commission should reward heads of educational institutions, including universities, with awards for enrolling large number of students.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Pawan said PR had already stated that it would introduce a bill in the Assembly for formation of Telangana if it was voted to power. He said he would not contest Assembly/Parliament elections and continue to work as party activist. On the description of PR as a “bubble” by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said “he might have remarked so out of fear of PR”.

Cong. cheating people onTelangana issue: PRP

Hyderabad (PTI): Telugu actor and Chiranjeevi's youngest brother Pavan Kalyan on Tuesday lashed out at Congress for deceiving people of Telangana on carving out a separate state.
Launching his four-day tour of Karimnagar district today, Pavan Kalyan, who is also the president of Praja Rajyam Party's youth wing Yuva Rajyam, said the Congress had one body but 1000 heads that spoke in different voices.
"One head favours Telangana while one sings the development song. Yet another head speaks a different voice. The party, that rode to power on the promise of granting statehood for Telangana region, has conveniently ignored the issue and cheated the people of the region," Pavan Kalyan alleged.
He also said the Congress lacked clarity on the Telangana issue. "It is, however, clear only one issue: not granting statehood for the region," Pavan Kalyan said.
Even the pro-Telangana outfit, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, failed to achieve anything for the region in the last four-and-a-half years.
"TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao launched a fast-unto-death near Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi vowing to achieve statehood for Telangana. But he could hardly sit on the fast for half-a-day," the Yuva Rajyam chief ridiculed.
He assured the people of the region that Praja Rajyam Party, if voted to power, would pass a resolution in the State Legislature for creation of Telangana.
"Only the PRP is very clear on the Telangana issue. We shall respect the wishes of the people of the region and leave no effort to fulfil their wishes," Pavan Kalyan promised.
Earlier, he visited the famous Hanuman temple at Kondagutta near Karimnagar and offered prayers before embarking on his tour.

Pawan Kalyan Interview

Pawan Kalyan promises Telangana

Prajarajyam youth President Pawan Kalyan said that PRP is ready to introduce Telangana bill, if it is elected to power in the coming Assembly elections. Pawan Kalyan was talking to media at Karimnagar.

He said that like all other partiies, TRS too didn't have clear views on Telangana. Latter Pawan Kalyan blamed Congress for not considering Telangana issue. He criticized Congress as a body with hundred thousand heads.

I’m more popular than NTR: Chiru

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi calls on spiritual leader the Dalai Lama who arrived in Hyderabad on Monday.

Praja Rajyam Party (c) founder Chiranjeevi claimed that he was wielding more popularity than the Telugu Desam Party founder NT Rama Rao.He, however, cautioned the party activists not to bank entirely on his charisma. If anything unexpected happens in the elections, it would be the responsibility of party workers, he warned.Addressing the meeting of seven district committees of the PRP here today, Chiranjeevi said that he had gained much popularity than NTR. “Senior leaders like P Upendra and others who witnessed NTR’s campaign in 1982 told me that the popularity I am enjoying is much more than what NTR enjoyed,’’ the actor-turned politician said. The PRP had already constituted district committees well before the elections, he said and wanted the party leaders to mingle with the people.“You have to ensure poll victory for the PRP,’’ Chiranjeevi told the party leaders. He directed district leaders to constitute booth and village-level committees and directed the cadre to popularise the Rs 100 package and free power to artisans and farmers, the schemes so far announced by the PRP.Launching a scathing attack on the Congress Government, Chiranjeevi said that the State went bankrupt during Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime. He directed the party leaders to highlight corruption in the Government. He expressed confidence that youth were the main strength of his party, who were thronging to his meetings in large numbers.PRP spokesman Mitra said that they were conducting surveys in all the Assembly segments and eliciting the opinions of the public to finalise the party candidates in the next elections.

PR will not sit in Opposition: Chiranjeevi

Madhurapudi, January 18: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi has declared that his party will not sit in the Opposition benches after the Assembly elections. “The people will not allow that.

We, sitting in Opposition means, insulting the people,” Mr. Chiranjeevi answered a question while speaking to media persons at the entrance of airport.

En route to Rajam in Vizianagaram district on Saturday, Mr. Chiranjeevi’s helicopter took a break here for refuelling. He also had lunch at the airport.

Answering another question, he said that the party did not want to join the grand alliance.
He said that the people want Praja Rajyam to fight alone and capture power on its own. However, the alliance with BSP is at national level and they know there is no base for BSP in the State.

The Praja Rajyam leader did not give a straight reply on whether he will join hands with BJP. He explained that, at the beginning, his party leader Mitra as a Leftist, tried to have a tie-up with CPM, but somehow that failed. “We are still ready to join hands with like-minded parties.”

Replying on continuing with welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government, the PR president said he would continue with all the welfare schemes, but not corruption in those schemes. When he was asked about funding to continue with the schemes and announcing fresh sops during electioneering, he shot back, “Did anyone think about funding when free power was announced?”

Chiranjeevi Peeved

Prajarajyam Party chief Chiranjeevi seems to be peeved at the Left parties for aligning with the TDP. No wonder he is, as he had expected that the Left would align with him for the upcoming elections. As a-matter-of-fact in the initial stages of the formation of the PRP, the Left had made overt moves to be closer to Chiranjeevi, meetings were held, and all thought it was a done deal, until the left decided to give Chiranjeevi a slip, and move with the TDP.
Chiranjeevi's irk is directed on the Left primarily because, he realizes that he cannot make it to the top all by himself, and he had expected the Left to be an easy pray as an ally, so that he could garner some brownie votes.

Chiranjeevi now says that, his party can make it all by itself in the Assembly elections, and they don't need any allies to win, is this not a case of 'sour Grapes'? Can PRP really win the following elections all by itself?

Chiranjeevi attacks 'grand alliance'

Hyderabad (PTI): The "grand alliance" of TDP, Left and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in Andhra Pradesh came under attack from other parties on Friday, including ruling Congress and Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam, who said people would not trust the alliance partners.
"It is not a 'maha' alliance but a 'maya' alliance. It will mislead people. They have ideological differences. People would not believe them," Chiranjeevi told reporters.
He said the TRS, which held talks for electoral alliance with his party, should explain to the people why it chose TDP and Left combination.
Congress leader and State Minister T Jeevan Reddy alleged that the alliance is opportunistic and its only aim is to defeat the Congress.
Nava Telangana Party (NTP) leader T Devender Goud, who quit the TDP to fight for separate Telangana, said the people of Telangana would not believe the TRS which criticised the TDP till the other day

PRP demands solution for jute workers’ woes

Vizianagaram, January 13: While expressing solidarity with the agitating Nellimarla Jute Mill workers, the Praja Rajyam Party has threatened to intensify the agitation if the government did not intervene to solve the workers’ demands.

At a press conference here on Monday, the party district convenor Merupula Venkataramana alleged that Minister for Botcha Satyanarayna had been acting hand in glove with the management and was not bothered to find a solution to over 110-days-old strike. He said that the PRP would launch direct action if the problem was not addressed in the next three or four days.
Condemn arrests

He also condemned the arrests of IFTU leaders P. Prasad and K. Sanyasi Rao, Jute workers’ union leader Boni Satyanarayana and CITU leader K. Rama Rao on Sunday night and demanded their release on bail immediately.

The jute workers gheraoed the management representatives from morning till late in the night demanding that they be paid salary for the 19 days work done in September but the management had agreed to pay 50 per cent of wages only after K. Koteswara Rao, Vizianagarm DSP, held conciliatory talks. When the workers did not agree to the offer and continue their protest the police used force to disperse them.

Praja Rajyam not averse on tie-up with BSP: Chiru

Chirala (AP), Jan 11: Actor-turned-Politician Chiranjeevi on Sunday said that his Praja Rajyam Party is not averse to having an understanding with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) if such an occasion comes.

"BSP generally contests elections on its own. We are not averse to a tie-up," he told reporters, when asked whether Praja Rajyam is open to an alliance with the Mayawati-led party.

Replying to a query, he reiterated that his party is not inclined to enter into an understanding with the BJP. Chiranjeevi spoke to mediapersons in Prakasam district where he has been conducting his mass-contact programme for the last few days.

Speaking on the Satyam fraud that came to light recently, he said the government's conduct over the probe into the scam did not evoke confidence that the case would be investigated fairly.

Addressing the gathering, Chiranjeevi said that change in political system is necessary as the ruling Congress as well as the main opposition Telugu Desham Party have failed to meet the expectations of the people.
